BALTIMORE - A man will spend his life plus 35 years in prison for shooting at his wife and shooting and killing a man watching the dispute.
Anthony Cole, 30, was sentenced by Baltimore City circuit court judge M. Brooke Murdock Monday.
The incident happened on April 14, 2012, when Cole rode his bicycle to the 1900 block of Etting Street, stopped, and approached his estranged wife. He smacked her in her face and exchanged words with her. A man seated next to her stood up and began walking away, not wanting to get involved in the altercation.
Cole turned and shot the man twice as he attempted to leave the scene. Cole then turned to his wife and fired at least three shots that all missed. The woman escaped and ran into a nearby home. Cole got in his bike and left the area.
Cole was convicted by a Baltimore jury in January of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, two counts of handgun use in a crime of violence and possession of a regulated firearm by a prohibited person.
