Man sentenced in believed drug deal murder

BALTIMORE - A man who shot and killed a believed drug dealer got what he bargained for Thursday.

It's a life sentence with all but 30 years suspended, followed by fire years of supervised probation.

Officials with the Baltimore City State's Attorney Office say the sentence came for killing, rather than paying the 51-year-old man from whom he arranged to by marijuana.

Investigators say Demetrius Arrington entered the passenger's seat of the victim's vehicle in the 5700 block of Eastbury Avenue, pulled a handgun and shot the man three times in the right side of the head. Arrington is believed to have walked around the car, shot the man in the other side of the head and then search the car for the drugs.

Arrington, 32, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and use of a handgun in a crime of violence in exchange for a sentence capped at life in prison with 30 years suspended.
