BALTIMORE - A man is recovering after he was robbed and hit with a brick in Canton early Tuesday morning.
Baltimore police say the incident happened in the 3400 block of Foster Avenue shortly before 2 a.m. While walking home, the victim realized he forgot his cell phone in his car. Police said a man on a bike approached the victim and asked for cigarettes. But victim told the suspect that he didn't smoke, police said.
The suspect then insinuated that he had a gun, forcing the victim to hand over his wallet. The suspect then took the man's car keys and a bag, which contained a laptop. The suspect then struck the man in the head with a large brick before stealing the man's car.
A witness who saw parts of the incident tried to follow the suspect, but lost track of him and circled back to help the victim.
Police say the man had gashes in the back and front of his head and lost two teeth in the attack. Medics took him to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment.
Police are investigating.
