BALTIMORE (WMAR) -- A 38-year-old Baltimore man received a life sentence for shooting his former girlfriend in the head, killing her.
Usamah Ibn-Said, pled guilty on April 29 to first degree murder and received a prison sentence of life with all but 35 years suspended followed by five years of supervised probation.
On November 21, 2010, police responded to a home in the 1700 block of Aisquith Street at about 3:54 a.m. and found the victim dead from a single gunshot wound to the head. When they found her, she had a bucket placed over her head.
Overturned furniture indicated that a struggle had taken place, but there were no signs of forced entry and the doors were locked.
Ibn-Said and the victim had shared custody of a child, and had previously lived together for six years.
In order to give the family time to give impact statements, the sentencing was held a week after Ibn-Said's plea.
