BALTIMORE (WMAR) -
Demond Tyler was convicted yesterday of the second degree murder of his grandmother in 2011 after he smoke PCP.
On the evening of November 4, 2011, a woman left her grandmother's house in the 3200 block of Spaulding Avenue, after spending time there with her brother.
When she returned the following day, she found the front door of the home locked and her brother, Demond, unconscious on the living room sofa and her grandmother, Shirley Tyler, dead in her bed.
The Medical Examiner determined that Shirley had been strangled to death.
Demond told police that he heard voices telling him that evil people would not look at him. He confronted Shirley, grabbed her by the throat and demanded that she look at him. Demond said that they fell onto the bed where she smiled at him.
Demond Tyler is set to be sentenced on May 1 and faces a maximum of 30 years in prison.
