Man charged in officer impersonation

Baltimore City Police have arrested and charged a man after they say he impersonated an officer.
Police responded to the 900 block of Poplar Grove Street on March 21 for a report of an unarmed robbery the day before.
The victim told police that he had been robbed by an unknown black male that was impersonating an officer. The suspect displayed a gold badge and handcuffs before he went through the victims pockets and took money.
The victim went on to say that they saw the suspect driving in the area. Police caught up with the fake officer in the 2900 block of Riggs Avenue.
Once pulled over, the suspect was identified as Jermaul Dean.
While stopped, Dean told an officer that he was about to enter the Baltimore City Police Academy and didn't do anything, however, he admitted to having a badge and told officers to find it in the colsole of his car.
Dean has been charged with robbery, assault, impersonating an officer and theft.
