BALTIMORE, Md. - Police arrested and charged a man with murder after he beat a man and set him on fire in northeast Baltimore Friday morning.

Authorities charged Lawrence Coverdale, 43, with first degree murder for the August 22 beating death of Nathaniel Quarterman.
Police found Quarterman’s body on fire in alley behind a home in the 4200 block of Shamrock Drive around 2 a.m. Friday. Investigators believe the men had argued, resulting in Coverdale beating Quarterman to death. Cloverdale then dragged the body outside to the alley and set it on fire.
Patrol officers found Cloverdale at the scene of the crime.
