CURTIS BAY, Md. - Baltimore City Police charged a man with sexual assault of two young girls, including one that is paralyzed, when they lived in a Curtis Bay neighborhood.
Police said 39-year-old Charles Nickens repeatedly abused two girls, ages 7 and 9. Nickens lived at a home on Pennington Ave. with the young girls, their mother and aunt. The abuse started as soon as they moved in to the home.
According to police, who were first made aware of the allegations in June, Nickens offered the 10-year-old girl $20 for sex and she refused. According to police reports, the girl said NIckens told her unless she went along he would kill her and do harm to her family.
One of the victims was paralyzed from the waist down and police said that even though the young girl was in a wheelchair, he would make her go down into the basement where some of the assaults allegedly took place.
Celeste Reils lives just a few houses up from where the police say the abuse took place. After hearing about the charges, Reils has some strong opinions about Nickens.
“He should be castrated,” she said. “I can’t think of anything more atrocious than that.”
