BALTIMORE - A 12-year-old girl was killed in an accident Tuesday night in East Baltimore, police department officials said.
Police are looking for the driver of a white sedan that ran a red light and struck a van in the 1100 block of East Preston Street just after 10 p.m. Investigators believe the man who fled the scene may be connected to a murder investigation.
Baltimore police Tuesday searched for a white Ford Fusion in connection with a murder investigation from Monday. Officials said they found the car Tuesday night.
The driver of the car tried to flee police and eventually struck a van carrying a 12-year-old in the 1100 block of East Preston Street. The girl did not survive the crash.
Baltimore’s Police Commissioner Anthony Batts spent Tuesday night with the family of the girl who died at an area hospital.
The investigation is ongoing. Police asked that if witnesses saw a black male wearing a white shirt and blue jeans running from the site of the crash to call 911.
