Former City cop pleads guilty to animal cruelty

SILVER SPRING, MD - A former Baltimore City police officer accused of beating his girlfriend's puppy to death has pleaded guilty to one felony count of aggravated animal cruelty.

Officer Alec Taylor was arrested in March for beating and choking the 7-month-old dog after it went to the bathroom on the carpet of the couple's Silver Spring apartment.

The judge told Taylor to expect jail time when he's sentenced on Oct. 8.

He faces a maximum of three years in prison and a $500 fine.
