A robbery attempt in Baltimore Monday ended in the arrest of a father and son.

Around 2:20 p.m. a man was walking in the 500 block of Water Street when two men came up behind him, allegedly hit him in the head and knocked him to the ground, according to Baltimore Police.

The two men allegedly continued assaulting the victim and went through his pockets then ran away, police said.

Officers put the suspects' descriptions out on the police radio and an off-duty officer noticed two men matching the description walking in the 800 block of Hillen Street. Patrol units helped detain the two men, later identified as Joseph and Cameron Wilkerson, in the 1000 block of Mcaleer Court in Latrobe Homes.

City Watch camera monitors reviewed footage and determined the Wilkersons were in the area at the time of the attack and attempted robbery, police said.

The victim also identified the Wilkersons as the men who attacked him, police said.

Joseph Wilkerson, 49, of Columbia is the father of 20-year-old Cameron Wilkerson.

Both men have been charged with attempted robbery and second-degree assault.
