Police say the father of a 5-month-old found dead Saturday has confessed to her death.

Officers responded to the home in the 6400 block of Sefton Avenue at 5:03 p.m. Saturday and the baby, Noran Lee Torbet was immediately transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital for treatment. The child was later pronounced dead and medical staff discovered she had passed the stage of rigor-mortis.

As a result, her death was classified as "suspicious."

Police say Noran's 23-year-old father, Jefferey McKinney, later confessed he became frustrated when the infant would not stop crying. He told detectives he placed a pillow on top of her to muffle her cries and later realized she was unresponsive.

McKinney told detectives he then put the baby on the edge of a mattress against the bedroom wall and piled pillows on top of her. It's believed he then went downstairs and began to ask family members if they had seen the child.

Upon finding the child, CPR immediately began, administered by the infant's grandmother. Police say the grandmother continued CPR until the ambulance arrived.

McKinney has been arrested and now faces charges of second degree murder, assault and child abuse.
