BALTIMORE - Baltimore City Homicide Detectives are investigating a double shooting that left a father and son dead in West Baltimore New Year's Day.
"I know that many people pray so hard for the year to start off nice, to start off right and to last throughout the year. It's just disturbing, it's disappointing, and I feel sad for the families who are touched by this tragedy," a neighbor, who did not want to be identified, said.
According to Baltimore City Police, at 3:19 p.m. officers responded to the 3900 block of Edmondson Avenue for reports of a double shooting.
Police taped off a large section of Edmondson Avenue near the intersection of Normandy Avenue during the investigation. Multiple shell casings could be seen in the street, on the sidewalk, and in the grass.
Two victims, a 48-year-old man and his 21-year-old son, were struck by the gunfire. The two were rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead within a few hours. According to police, multiple shots were fired, and one of the victims was shot in the head.
Police have not yet released a suspect description, but say because the shooting happened on a busy street in the middle of the day, they're hoping someone saw something.
"We will continue to work this investigation until we can determine who the individual or individuals are that responsible for this," said Detective Jeremy Silbert with the Baltimore City Police Department.
Police could not comment on a motive for the shooting.
