Cop won't face charges in Turnage case

BALTIMORE (WMAR) - The Baltimore City State's Attorney has decided not to press charges against Officer John Ward after the rifle used to kill 13-year-old Monae Turnage was found in his car.

The State's Attorney's Office says that they will not charge Officer Ward due to insufficient evidence to pursue charges.

Turnage's body was found in March hidden under trash in an alley after she had been accidentally shot while playing with her friends. The rifle responsible for killing the teen was later found in Ward's car.

Turnage's two juvenile friends admitted to accidentally shooting her and hiding her body.

At the time of the shooting, Ward was involved with a relative of one of the juveniles that admitted to her accidental killing.
