Marco Holmes has been charged with first and second-degree murder in the death of girlfriend Tonja Chadwick.
Baltimore Police announced the charges Thursday morning.
Holmes, 22, was taken into custody Wednesday on an unrelated warrant violation. He was considered a person of interest after 20-year-old Tonja Chadwick went missing on Jan. 28.

Chadwick's body was found nearly a week later in a wooded area of Daisy Park near North Hilton Street and Monastery Avenue in southwest Baltimore. She was wrapped up in bedding with a gunshot wound to the head.
Police believe the incident occurred after an argument.
Holmes also faces first-degree assault and several handgun charges.
