Baltimore doctor accused of sexually abusing a patient

BALTIMORE - Baltimore City police are investigating a doctor accused of sexually abusing at least one of his patients.

Police said one victim told them that Dr. Y K Ramaiah took her exam too far. Tonight, he is charged with assault and third- and fourth-degree sex offense.

Charging documents say the victim went to see Ramaiah over two weeks ago. He was supposed to check out her back pain. But instead, police say he touched other areas of her body and made inappropriate comments.

"Upon an interview with the victim, she relayed to us that during the examination some of the touching she thought was inappropriate and outside the scope of practice of Dr. Ramaiah,” said Sgt. Jarron Jackson, a Baltimore police spokesman.

The Maryland Board of Physicians issued Ramaiah his medical license in 1971 and their website says the license is still active. His office is located on N. Kenwood Ave. in northeast Baltimore.

If you or someone you know was a victim of  Ramaiah, you're asked to call police detectives: 410-396-2269.
