A 76-year-old man is facing up to 45 years in prison after being convicted of sexually abusing an 11-year-old boy.
The State's Attorney's Office says Jerome Floyd spotted the child on his way to school, waiting at a bus stop near Mondawmin Mall.
Floyd approached the victim and showed him a magic video on a portable device. When the bus arrived, Floyd followed the victim and sat down next to him. When the boy was released from school Floyd was waiting for him at the bus stop.
The two walked to store where Floyd bought the victim snacks. In court, the victim testified that he and Floyd "watched birds." The child took the bus home.
On April 26, 2014, the victim left his Central Park Heights home without telling his family. He was taken to Floyd's apartment in the 500 block of Preston Street. Floyd bought Chine food and let the child play video games. As the two were watching movies, Floyd sexually assaulted the boy before they fell asleep.
Meanwhile, the child's mother was searching for him.
"The mother had formed a search party that consisted of friends, family and people in the neighborhood," said assistant state's attorney Seth Giller. "She was extremely worried about her child, and the only reason she didn't call the police right away is because she was under the impression that she had to wait 24 hours before filing a missing person's report. After checking a website, and learning that she did not have to wait a full day, she immediately called the Baltimore Police."
On Sunday, Floyd took the child to Arundel Mills where he gambled at the casino for three hours while the child played at an arcade. Floyd then took the boy back to Mondawmin Mall where he boarded a bus and when home.
Upon returning home, the victim told his family about Floyd who he know as, "Mr. Hollywood."
Investigators were able to find Floys after the boy recounted his whereabouts. After Floyd was apprehended, investigators found a bag of cell phones and the boy's jacket inside the home.

"As a mother, I'm mortified by what happened to this innocent little boy. I'm thankful that this child and his family have finally received justice in this case, and that this sexual predator will no longer see the light of day to harm any other helpless child on their way to school," said State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby.
