Six people were shot, two fatally, in northwest Baltimore Wednesday night.

A lone gunman opened fire outside of the "1 Stop Grocery and Deli" at Duvall Avenue and Garrison Boulevard around 6 p.m., police said.

According to police, five men and one woman were shot. One man was pronounced dead on the scene. Another was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

All of the other victims were transported to area hospitals. One man is in critical condition, while two other men and the woman are being treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Police believed the incident was related to other crimes in the area and that this could be an act of retaliation.

Chief TJ Smith, a Baltimore Police spokesman, made a plea to families amid the violence.

"You know who your people are that just aren't doing what they're supposed to do, and we're going to have to continue to knock on your door, and we're going to continue to have to get 'RIP' shirts, we're going to put some more balloons up, we're going to throw some more hash-tags on social media, and then we're going to do this all over again," he said.

Police are still looking for the suspect.
