270 arrested on warrant crackdown

BALTIMORE - Police in Baltimore City announced they arrested 270 suspects wanted on priority warrants Thursday.

Officials say the arrests were part of a week-long warrant initiative that targeted suspects with open arrest warrants and histories of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and armed robbery in Baltimore.

The arrests were made under the direction of newly appointed police commissioner Anthony W. Batts, who credited detectives for hard work and swift action.

"The results of this warrant effort are a testament to the hard working men and women of the Baltimore Police Department who put their lives on the line each day to make this city safer," Batts said.
