Officers say they were conducting an investigation in the 1500 block of Shields Place sometime Friday.
During this time, an anonymous tip came in that led to the arrest of 27-year-old Terry Maye.
Police say a loaded handgun was recovered from the scene.
According to police, Maye is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Maye has been transported to Central Booking where he has been formally charged
