2 dead, four shot in overnight violence

BALTIMORE - Baltimore City police are investigating two murders and several shootings that happened overnight.

Police have 45-year-old Michael Small in custody in connection to the strangulation death of a woman in the 1700 block of E. North Avenue.

Officials say Small walked into the central district station just before 4 a.m. Sunday and told police there was an unresponsive woman at 1737 E. North Avenue.

Police responding to the address found an unconscious woman who was later pronounced dead.

Police arrested the man and charges are pending.

Around 2:15 Sunday morning officers responding to a report of a shooting found a man stabbed in the 1900 block of N Monroe. 39-year-old Dennis Leon Settle was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe he was involved in an argument before he was stabbed.

While police were responding to the N Monroe homicide in northeast Baltimore, officers on the west side were talking to three gunshot victims who walked into an area hospital. The victims – two men and a woman – told police they were sitting in a car in the 4900 block of Stafford Street when they were shot.  All three victims are in critical condition.

In an unrelated shooting, a man was shot in the neck in south Baltimore around 10:30 Saturday night. He was taken to an area hospital. His condition is unknown.
