16 firearms seized from Baltimore home

BALTIMORE (WMAR) - Baltimore City Police say they have seized 16 guns from a South Baltimore home and arrested one man.

At about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a report of an armed person in the 1200 block of Carroll Street, close to the scene of a triple shooting that occurred on September 28 on Cross Street.

When officers arrived, the spoke with a man who stated that Wayne Petty, just pointed a gun at him. Petty was then seen and detained in front of his residence on Carroll Street.

Upon further investigation, police learned that Petty had access to multiple weapons inside his home, but that Petty is prohibited from possessing a firearm, due to an armed robbery conviction.

Petty was placed under arrest and is now facing charges of first and second degree assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony or violent crime, firearm possession with a felony conviction, rifle and/or shotgun possession, and long barrel shotgun possession.

Police seized 5 handguns, 6 shotguns and 5 rifles from Petty's home.

At this time it is unclear if he was involved in the triple shooting on September 28.
