LINTHICUM, Md. - Child Protective Services took a 2-month-old from its mother after police say her friend left the child with the front desk clerk at a hotel.
According to Anne Arundel County Police, a friend of the mother's left the baby with the clerk at the Microtel Hotel in Linthicum around midnight Tuesday then left with a man.
When officers arrived, they looked in the room the woman was renting and found things that made them believe the woman was a prostitute. While officers were at the hotel, Leah Ellison, the mother, returned and said she was in another friend's room.
Police suspect Ellison herself was working at the hotel as a prostitute.
Ellison is charged with child neglect. Charges against her friend, who police have not yet identified, are pending.
