HANOVER, Md. - A quick thinking Glen Burnie woman escaped a carjacker at Arundel Mills Mall Friday night.
Police said the thirty-six-year-old woman was standing next to her car in the mall parking lot around 10 p.m. Friday when a man asked her for money. When she told the man she didn’t have any, he pushed her into her car. The woman fought off the attacker and managed to escape from the car and call for help.
The man drove off in her car.
Anne Arundel County police partnered with mall security and Howard County police using surveillance video and LoJack to locate the car. Police arrested the suspect at his home in Howard County.
“This case highlights the collaborative efforts of law enforcement partnerships and state of the art security and surveillance,” said Anne Arundel County Police Chief Kevin Davis. “This is yet another quick case closure as well as a notice to bad guys, that we work together to come after you quickly if you commit crime in Anne Arundel County.”
The suspect was charged with carjacking, robbery, second degree assault and motor vehicle theft.
