UPDATE: Anne Arundel County Sheriff's Office arrests two suspects they said dragged and injured a deputy after a stop Saturday evening.

The Anne Arundel County Sheriff's Office has identified the driver as 41-year-old David Gale Waid, of 1303 Riverwood Way Stoney Beach. Both Waid and Day remain on the loose.

Both Waid and his passenger Melissa Day face a combination of assault and attmepted murder charges.

The Office of the Sheriff in Anne Arundel County says Melissa Andrea Day had been wanted for multiple warrants. A deputy recognized her Saturday around 3:30 p.m. as she was riding in a car along Magothy Bridge Rd in Pasadena.

When the deputy approached the stopped car to arrest Day, he was able to get a handcuff on one of her hands before the driver began accelerating the car, dragging the officer a 'considerable distance', causing injuries to his head and body.

The officer was rushed to Shock Trauma where he was treated and released.

Police say the car fled the scene but Day and the driver were last seen running on foot. The area was searched but neither suspect was found.

Sheriff Ron Bateman said he suspects friends or family are giving the two cover and they too may face charges.

"We believe friends and family maybe assisting them in their escape and I will tell them this, if you are assisting either one of these two in their escape they too will be hunted down and charged," the sheriff said.

Anyone with information on Melissa Andrea Day, of 402 McBride Lane in Severna Park, or David Waid of Curtis Bay is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 410-222-1570 or 911.
