Woman charged in prescription fraud

EDGEWATER, Md. - Police in Anne Arundel County have arrested and charged a woman with prescription fraud.

Just after 2:00 p.m. on October 10 police responded to the Safeway Pharmacy on Central Avenue West in Edgewater to conduct the fraud investigation.

With cooperation and assistance from the pharmacy, detectives were able to identify Talaina Monique Smith as a suspect and she was subsequently arrested.

The investigation revealed that the suspect entered the business and was attempting to fill a fraudulent prescription.

Smith was charged with attempting to obtain a controlled dangerous substance and related charges as well as possession of a forged prescription and related charges.
