DAVIDSONVILLE, Md. -
The half million dollar home in a quiet and sparse Davidsonville development remains frozen in time.
The driveway is still roped off with crime tape while an officer sits in the driveway guarding an open garage door.
Police say 37 year-old Nicole Burgess was murdered here, her body discovered Friday and today detectives are ready to say her pit bull mix was killed along with her.
"At this point preliminarily it looks like there is a nexus between the dog's death and the female's death, again it is still an active homicide investigation at this point and detectives are seeking information from the public," said Anne Arundel County Police Spokesperson Justin Mulcahy.
Police are shying away from releasing exactly how Burgess and her dog were murdered, those details will come when the autopsy and necropsy reports are complete.
In the meantime detectives continue to interview people in her life or had contact with her.
According to state records, Burgess ran an interior design company out of her home; the package out front which she would never receive is addressed to her and the name of her company, ‘Devine Designs.'
Also near the mailbox, a bouquet of flowers, but no neighbors on this dead end street are talking.
State records show family lives next door who told us stay back on Friday, and at least one other neighbor told us to leave today.
For now a motive for this murder remains a mystery.
"This is an unusual incident for that particular neighborhood and certainly the circumstances surrounding these deaths were very odd; having this female deceased, also the dog inside the residence as well."
An unusual circumstance that has police leaving no stone unturned as they search for who killed Nicole Burgess and her dog.
