Washington, D.C. man charged in Laurel murder, second suspect still at large

A Washington, D.C. man has been charged with the murder of a Laurel man earlier this month, Anne Arundel County Police said.

Police are also offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a second suspect.

Malachi Ellis faces a long list of charges including first- and second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first- and second-degree murder, armed robbery, assault and other charges in connection with the July 3 shooting death of Dalan Plummer, 19, at the Knights Inn in Laurel.

Police have also issued an arrest warrant for Brandon Holmes, 28, also of Washington, D.C. He also faces charges including murder, robbery and assault.

Ellis was spotted by Metropolitan Police last Wednesday in the 700 block of R Street after officers recognized him from flyers that were distributed to law enforcement. He is being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center without bond.

Police are asking anyone with information on Holmes’ location to call 911. Anyone with further information on the murder should call Anne Arundel County Homicide at 410-222-4731, or to stay anonymous, 410-222-4700.
