Toys 'R' Us, Family Dollar robbed in Glen Burnie

GLEN BURNIE - Anne Arundel County police are investigating a pair of armed robberies in Glen Burnie over the weekend.

At approximately 1:29 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to the Toys R Us, located at 6711 Ritchie Highway, for a reported armed robbery.

Police said a 21-year-old man told them that someone displayed a weapon and demanded money from the business.  The victim complied and the suspect fled with money and items from the store.

The man in questions was described by police as white, approximately 40 years old, 5-foot-10 with a heavy set build, short brown hair and beard. He was also wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

Then at approximately 10:31 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to the Family Dollar, located at 7428 Furnace Branch Rd. East, for another robbery.

The store manager told police that both he and another employee had just entered the rear employee area of the store when the suspect walked from around a corner, displayed a handgun and announced a robbery. The suspect then stole money from the business before exiting through the store's rear door.

Police said it appears the suspect entered the store through the front entrance prior to closing, walked into the employee office area of the store and waited for the employees to enter the office before robbing them.

In this case, police described the suspect as a black male, about 5-foot-10, 170 pounds, medium, athletic build, last seen wearing a black hat with a white front and black lettering, black ski mask, long sleeve black shirt, white t-shirt, black pants and black shoes.
