Thief steals copper, causes power outage

BALTIMORE - Police are on the lookout for a person with fresh burns who may have stolen copper wiring from a BGE substation Sunday morning.

Anne Arundel County police say it appears the stolen wiring came into contact with a live part of a substation located at 600 Camp Meade Road in Linthicum causing a power outage around 5:20 a.m. Police believe the thief may be suffering from extensive burns and might seek medical treatment.

Area hospitals are being asked to be on the lookout for anyone seeking medical attention for burns caused by extreme heat and/or electricity.

Anyone who was in the area of the 600 block of Camp Meade Rd South and may have witnessed a suspicious vehicle or activity is asked to call to call police at 410-222-6003 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
