Terrier critcally injured in bulldog attack

NORTH BEACH, Md. - A terrier is in critical condition at an Annapolis animal hospital after being attacked Sunday by an American bulldog.

Anne Arundel County police said officers responded at 3:41 p.m., police to Bay Front Ave. in North Beach for a report of an aggressive dog.

Police said witnesses told them that the approximately 105-pound bulldog was running loose in the area.  The dog then ran toward a neighbor's house where the 20-pound Terrier was barking behind a fenced in yard.

Police said the bulldog grabbed the smaller dog with its teeth and pulled him between the fence slats.  The owner of the small dog tried to stop the bulldog by pulling its jaw apart.  She freed her small dog, but she sustained a minor bite to her left hand.

Anne Arundel County animal control took the bulldog into their custody.  The investigation is ongoing.
