RIVA, Md. - A 17-year-old was arrested on charges related to a series of burglaries in southern Anne Arundel County.
Police said five residential burglaries have been reported in the Sylvan Shores community of Rive this year. The break-ins occurred at various hours and some took place while the homes were occupied. Police said the suspect stole various items including a 22 gauge rifle, a 9mm handgun, jewelry, electronics and money.
The investigation into the incidents discovered evidence and witnesses linking the teen suspect - who walked away from a group home in the area - to the crimes. On Tuesday, Anne Arundel and Baltimore police located the suspect in a home in Baltimore City. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Anne Arundel County police said they discovered additional evidence from the home the suspect was in, linking him to the burglaries. At this time, the suspect has been charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of theft with additional charges likely.
This investigation is still ongoing and detectives are looking for the stolen guns and the other missing property.
