Teen burglar caught in the act

DAVIDSONVILLE, Md. - A 17-year-old is in police custody after being caught stealing from a Davidsonville home Friday night.

Around 8 p.m. Friday an alert neighbor called police after seeing an unfamiliar truck in a neighbor’s driveway in the 700 block of Governor Bridge Road. A police helicopter in the area saw a person loading items from the house into a pickup truck. As officers arrived at the home, the person ran back into the house.

As additional police officers and K-9 units surrounded the house the teen suspect quickly surrendered.

Investigation revealed this isn’t the first time the suspect has been in trouble with the authorities. Police say the juvenile has two warrants out for his arrest and is a repeat offender reported missing from a group home in La Plata, Md.

The teen had property on him from an earlier burglary in the 100 block of Remital Rd. in Riva. The vehicle he was driving was a stolen vehicle from Charles County.

He was charged with two counts of burglary, stolen vehicle and thefts.

The Department of Juvenile Services was notified and the juvenile was transported to the Cheltenham Youth Facility.
