A man jumped off a bridge after police say he caused a four-car crash on Wednesday night.
According to investigators, Rene Ruiz, 33, was speeding on eastbound I-695 at the Patapsco River Bridge when he lost control and hit three other cars.
After the crash, witnesses say Ruiz exited his car and jumped off the bridge, dropping an estimated 20 feet into shallow water. Ruiz was found and recovered from the water by EMS personnel and was taken to Shock Trauma.
Others involved in the crash were also taken to the hospital for possible injuries. After Ruiz was cleared from Shock Trauma he was arrested by Glen Burnie troopers.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash and charges are pending at this time. The investigation is still ongoing.
