String of robberies target young people in Anne Arundel

Friday was a tough day for young people in Anne Arundel County.

Four juveniles ranging in age from 9 to 17 were victims of robberies or attempted robberies.

Police say a thug stole a 9-year-old’s cell phone in Laurel around 3:15 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Then around 5:45 p.m. in Severn 15-year-old twin boys became the next robbery victims.

Police say they were walking in the area of Carriage Drive and Carriage Court when six suspects came up behind them. The suspects punched the boys in the face and demanded their property. The suspects got away with a cell phone.

Finally around 10 p.m. a 17-year-old leaving a party in Laurel was beaten for cell phone and wallet. The teen was taken to an area hospital with multiple facial lacerations. The four suspects fled on foot without the victim's property.

Police say they don't think the robberies are connected.
