Police: Glen Burnie barricade suspect in custody

 Anne Arundel County police responded to a police-involved shooting in the 8000 block of Phirne Road in Glen Burnie Tuesday.

At approximately 8:48 p.m. 911 dispatch received a call from a man stating he had a gun. When police arrived at the house, there was no answer at the door. 

The suspect exited the home with a rifle and pointed the gun at the officers.

Anne Arundel County police spokesperson Ryan Frashure said police believe the suspect fired first and the officers returned fire. 

Shortly after the shooting, the suspect barricaded himself. At approximately 10:20 p.m. the suspect surrendered to police. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury to the upper body.

A neighbor said she was shot. Police said she was alert and conscious. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury to the upper body.

A police officer injured his hand in the incident. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Anne Arundel County police homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
