Pregnant woman in labor robbed at gunpoint

ANNAPOLIS - Police arrested two men after they robbed a pregnant woman in labor at gunpoint.

Devery Kelley, 24, and Cornell Robinson, 44, were arrested for the armed robbery in the 1800 block of Copeland St. in Annapolis.

According to police, the pair robbed the pregnant woman and her male companion around 4:30 a.m. When officers arrived at the scene the victims pointed out the robbers as they fled in a stolen car.

"The gotta have a lot of balls and no sense," said Adam Commodore, a neighbor.

Police followed the suspects as they abandoned the car and fled on foot. After a brief chase both men were arrested. Police also recovered a handgun the suspects threw from the car. Another gun was found by a neighbor while going to church.

The pregnant woman, who was in labor before the robbery, was transported to the hospital.

"I just hope everything be alright.  I hope the baby alright," said Commodore.
