HANOVER, Md. - Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who triggered a shooting scare at Arundel Mills Mall over the weekend.
Anne Arundel County police Monday released surveillance photos and video of a man who "ignited an unknown substance inside of a bottle" inside of a Cinemark Egyptian 24 movie theatre while a film was in progress, according to a release. The bang from homemade firework sparked a panic inside the mall.
The mall was evacuated shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday. About 325 people were inside the theater for a screening of 300.
“We understand the sensitivity involved when noises take place in a theater or mall with the tragedies that have taken place in Columbia and Aurora," mall management said in a release. "We can report once again, there are NO victims and NO evidence of a shooting at the Cinemark Theater.”
Anyone with information regarding the identity of the man in the above photos is asked to contact Anne Arundel County detectives at 410-222-6155 or 410-222-7884 ext. 3244.
