ANNAPOLIS - The caller told dispatchers there was a naked man with a head injury…
Responding officers with the Annapolis Police Department found a man with a slice across his face at 116 Defense Highway – a slice believed to be from a box cutter.
According to a report, officers believe the man was in an unoccupied office on the fifth floor of the Conte building with a female companion. They say the woman's boyfriend came in and encountered the two.
Officers believe 43-year-old James Kerry Bennett sliced the victim on the face with a box cutter and ran from the building. They say Bennett was later found hiding in the women's bathroom of the Wendy's on Defense Highway and taken into custody.
A search around the Wendy's reveled a yellow box cutter between the hedges and a brick wall.
Police say the victim has injuries not believed to be life-threatening, but required a significant number of sutures to close his wounds.
Bennett is being charged with attempted first and second degree murder; first and second degree assault and reckless endangerment.
