Police looking for burglar, fake water employee

Anne Arundel Police are looking for the man they say posed as a water company employee and stole a Linthicum woman's property.

Just before 11 a.m., police went to the 200 block of Hammond Ferry Road in Linthicum.  When they got there, they talked to a woman who said she was approached by a Hispanic male who claimed he worked for a local water company and needed to investigate a water leak.

The woman allowed the man into the house, and he began to look around.  After a few minutes, he left and the victim realized some of her personal belongings had gone missing.

Police say there may have been another person who entered the home while the owner was distracted.  The Hispanic man is described as roughly 5-foot-8, 220-pounds wearing a blue baseball cap, blue shirt and tan pants.

This is the second incident in the last week with similar circumstances and suspect information, according to police, who advise all residencies to ask for official identification before allowing strangers to enter.

Anyone with information on this burglary is asked to call 410-222-6135.
