HANOVER, Md. - An Upper Marlboro man was charged this week in connection with a March auto dealership burglary that was followed by a police-involved shooting.
Andre Scott Nureni, 24, of the 8400 block of Berwick Road in Upper Marlboro was charged Thursday with burglary, auto theft and being rogue and vagabond.
The charges stem from a March 12 incident at Baltimore Washington Auto Outlet in the 2700 block of Annapolis Road in Hanover.
Around 12:37 a.m. that day, officers were called to the used car dealership after a burglar alarm went off at the business.
When they arrived, officers found the business had been burglarized and saw two men in masks running away, according to police.
One of the suspected burglars jumped into a 2005 Chevrolet Corvette stolen from the dealership and drove straight for an officer who was outside a patrol car. A second officer fired his service weapon at the driver to stop the charge, according to police.
Investigators learned the burglars drove a stolen car to the scene. Inside that car, investigators found burglary tools and other evidence that led them to suspect Nureni was involved, police said.
A warrant for Nureni’s arrest was issued March 27 and he turned himself in to the Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Office April 3.
