Police arrest man linked to rape, sex assaults

Police arrested a man suspected of  two sexual assaults in Glen Burnie.

Anne Arundel County police arrested Steven Joseph Proctor Friday after an extensive investigation linking him to at least two sex crimes in the area.

Police recovered evidence linking Proctor to sexual assaults in July 2014 and September 2015 while executing a search warrant of Proctor’s home in the 7500 block of Ritchie Highway Thursday.

He was arrested Friday and charged with First Degree Rape, First Degree Sex Offense, and First Degree Assault among numerous other charges.  

Proctor is linked to a sexual assault behind a shopping center in the 300 block of Hospital Drive after midnight on September 11. The suspect was described as an armed black male who made his get away on a bicycle.

The other case was on July 12, 2014, also in the overnight hours, and the suspect was also riding a bike and pulled out a weapon. A different victim told police she was lured behind buildings in the 600 block of Crain Highway and raped.

Proctor is being held at the Anne Arundel County detention center  on no bail status.
