Anne Arundel County Police say they arrested a 16-year-old after a social media post threatened Northeast High School.

Police say they were notified about the post at 10:30 Sunday night, and they quickly contacted the 16-year-old responsible.

The 16-year-old has no association with the school and said it was a bad joke, according to police. The teen erased the post minutes after posting.

Police said they took the teen into custody and there is no threat to the high school and no reason to believe there is any danger to the school, students, or staff.

Additional officers will be at the school throughout the day as a visible presence.
