Perfume thieves use pepper spray in getaway

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Shoplifters in Annapolis pepper sprayed a store employee who tried to stop them, police say.

According to police, around 3:30  Saturday afternoon officers were called to the Ulta Beauty cosmetics store in the Harbor Center shopping center for a report of  shoplifting.

The store manager told police a woman came into the store, put a large amount of perfume in shopping bag and walked out without paying. When an employee tried to grab the bag, another woman waiting in the front of the store pepper sprayed the employee in the face.

The two female suspects then left the store and were last seen leaving the area in a newer model white four door car with the rear license plate covered by a plastic bag and a missing right front hubcap.

Police searched the area but could not find the suspect or the vehicle.

Police believe the same two women are behind thefts at other Ulta stores in the area.
