Party host kills guest then self in apparent murder-suicide in Anne Arundel County

Anne Arundel County, Md -

Police in Anne Arundel County said the host of a party in an Edgewater townhome shot and killed a party guest and then killed himself in an apparent murder-suicide Friday night.

Around 10:45 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting in the 300 block of Dawnwood Drive in Edgewater.

When officers arrived to the scene, they found the resident of the townhome, Russell Robert Ramey, 45, and Devin Alexander Hayes, 24, dead from gunshot wounds.

Members of the Anne Arundel County Police Homicide Unit then responded and took over the investigation, which later revealed Ramey fatally shot Hayes and then turned the gun on himself.

Police said there is no threat to the community.

Homicide detectives are still investigating what led to this deadly ending.
