LINTHICUM, Md. - A man and a woman were arrested Thursday night in connection with the theft copper in Anne Arundel and Howard counties.
Anne Arundel County police charged Dennis Charles Asmussen, Jr., 40, of no fixed address and Heather Nicole Sewell-Hutson, 25, of Savage with burglary, theft and destruction of property after officers saw them breaking into a Linthicum business for its copper, according to police.
Police said officers arrived at Rommel Engineering, located at 601 Nursery Rd., to assist Howard County police with their investigation. Investigators said they witnessed the pair enter the business lot before leaving with copper tubing, spools of copper wiring and extension cords.
Asmussen and Sewell-Hutson then placed all of the items behind a cement barrier near the roadway, police said. They then started to load the items into their Jeep when police detained them.
