Martial arts instructor sentenced to 10 days in jail for sexual assault

EDGEWATER, Md. - A former Edgewater martial arts instructor accused of having a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old is sentenced to 10 days in jail.

Jason Webb apologized for his actions, after he pleaded guilty. He was 26 years old when the incident occurred last summer.

Webb will be on probation for three years and will need to register as a sex offender for the next 25 years.

Webb was an instructor at East Coast Martial Arts in Edgewater when he began an intimate relationship with the teen. Webb turned himself in back in February.

"Mr. Webb was a person of authority parents trusted to teach their children self-confidence and self-defense,” said Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess in a statement. “He took advantage of his role and used it to manipulate this girl in the beginning of her teenage years. With this conviction he must remain on the Sex Offender Registry for 25 years, which will help to prevent him from victimizing other minors."
