A Maryland man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for burglary and the brutal beating of an elderly couple in October of 2013.

Wednesday,  Anne Arundel County State's Attorney Wes Adams announced that Travis Evans, 29, was sentenced by circuit court Judge Michele J. Jaklitsch. Evans is currently serving a 60-year sentence in Prince George's County for an armed carjacking, armed robbery and a handgun related offense.

Evans plead guilty Tuesday to burglary and two counts of 2nd degree assault, one each for 87-year-old Oliver Daff and 73-year-old Lynn Paquette.

"This was a particularly disturbing case that brutally victimized an elderly couple in the middle of the night," Adams said.

Evans' DNA was found on the broken tip of a latex glove inside the rope that was used to tie up the victims the night of the incident.

He was sentenced to 20 years, the maximum for burglary, to run consecutive to his current 60-year sentence. In addition, Evans was sentenced to an additional 10 years, to run concurrent to the 20-year burglary sentence, for each assault.
