An Annapolis man was charged with armed robbery, first- and second-degree assault and other charges for robbing another man in a bathroom downtown.

John Jennings, 32, is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center in $50,000 bond, Annapolis Police said.

Police said Jennings approached the victim around 1:45 a.m. Sunday and offered to sell him cocaine. When the victim refused, Jennings demanded $40 before allowing the victim to leave.

Jennings turned off the lights in the bathroom, and when he turned them back on, he was holding a knife and pointing it at the victim, police said.

The victim handed over money, and Jennings let him leave the bathroom.

After police arrested Jennings, they also found cocaine on him. He also faces charges of reckless endangerment and possession of a controlled substance.
