A 28-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a woman whose body was found Tuesday in a wooded area near Annapolis.
Christopher Scheibe, of no fixed address, confessed to the murder of Holly Carol Smith, 24, of Essex Thursday, Anne Arundel County Police said. He was already wanted on unrelated charges and taken into custody on the Eastern Shore, police said.
He faces charges of first- and second-degree murder and first- and second-degree assault.
Smith’s body was found in the 2000 block of Industrial Drive when a resident walking in the area saw it and called police.

An autopsy the following day revealed puncture and stab wounds to the upper body.
